1986 PBA Open Conference Finals
The 1986 PBA Open Conference Finals is the best-of-7 series basketball championship of the 1986 PBA Open Conference, and the conclusion of the conference's playoffs. Ginebra San Miguel and the Manila Beer Brewmasters played for the 35th championship contested by the league.
Ginebra San Miguel won their first championship against Manila Beer since the franchise joined the league in 1979.
Finals Highlights
- Ginebra San Miguel rallied from 20 points down (71–91) in the third quarter of Game One, trailing 89–104 starting the 4th.period, won the game on Billy Ray Bates' buzzer-beating dunk in one of the most exciting and thrilling finishes in PBA finals history.
- Same scenario in Game Two, Manila Beer led by 19, 94–75 entering the final period, but Ginebra rallied to within four, 105–101, the brewmasters were able to weathered the storm with key baskets and a 9–1 run up their lead at 114–102 and finally prevail over Ginebra by a ten-point margin.
- Game four went into two overtimes, first at 117-all on Michael Hackett's basket with two second left, and the second extension on Michael Young's two free throws with a second left, to tie the game at 127-all, Billy Ray Bates, Michael Hackett and Robert Jaworski played an exhausting 58 minutes.
